Amelia Sage Remington Name: Amelia Sage Remington (Remy)
Age: Twenty Eight
Race: Human with Abilities
Faction: Starling City P.D.
Face Claim: Emilie De Ravin
Personality: Remy is a sweet woman. The kind that buys donuts at random for the office, or brings her favorite people coffee in the mornings. She is the kind that will bend over backwards to make someone’s day. Remy is often the kind that is the first to volunteer for whatever needs done even if it means to her own discomfort. This often gets her into trouble because she often volunteers for things that she has no business volunteering for.
Remy loves children and pets. She has a small black Yorkie that is her pride and joy. She treats the little guy just like a child, most of the time. She wants to be married and have children of her own some day but she is in no rush. She knows it will happen when it’s ready to happen and there is no reason to push forwards.
She takes her job very seriously. Working long hard hours, taking shifts that family people don’t need to so that they will be able to do what is important to them. Dedication is her middle name.
Likes: Puddles her dog, kids, romance.
Dislikes: Pickles, liars, summer.
Habits: Super clean house. Purifiers in the vehicles. Tends to twirl a lock of hair when deep in thought.
History: Amelia was born to Robert and Cassandra Remington. Cassandra had once been from a fairly affluent family but when she decided to marry Robert who was a mere police officer, her parents cut her off. At first, Cassie was upset, but she learned that she did not need all the finery in her life. She made her life her own, and no day was better than the day that they gave birth to Amelia. Their eldest of two children. Amelia’s younger brother coming along only a year later with the name of Aaron.
Amelia grew up in a very normal life. Her father, being a police officer, was rather big on making sure that both his children could protect themselves. He was the kind of father that was always prepared. Fire safety checks, and fire plans. How to deal with an intruder and everything.
It was a few years before Cassie's parents would allow visits and it was only when the Grandchildren came along. Amelia fondly remembers many summers spent at her Grandparents' estate. And her best friend down the road, a boy named Wes. Of course their parents thought the two just worked so well together and hoped for things to develop in the future. However, Amelia and Wes were never anything but the best of friends, they were siblings in a way, constantly looking out for each other and constantly at each other's side.
Wes was one of many supporters when Amelia decided to enter college in pursuit of a Criminal Justice and Forensics degree. Wes knew Amelia through and through and even though for most of their lives it was only the summer they spent together it was as if they were never apart. Amelia entered college and worked hard as she does at everything. She had always been slightly sensitive. To smells, sounds, and even tastes. One fateful morning though it seemed her senses had kicked into over drive with no true explanation.
Her senses overwhelmed her. She couldn't manage at first. She could see everything.. like a microscope. Hear conversations in buildings that weren't even her own. She could feel the single threads in her sheets rubbing against her skin. Things that were tolerable before were absolute torture now. Her tastes even had to change. She couldn't eat things that were heavily spiced or seasoned and her scent... was the worst. She could smell the dorm room bathroom every single time it was used for.. less than quick reasons.
It was Wes that came to her rescue. He was the one that had a spare key and when she had not called, not answered his texts, not even gone to classes... he knew something was up. Fearing the worst he had let himself into her dorm and found her huddled in the corner with tears streaming down her face. Hands over her ears, eyes shut tight, nose burried in her lap. It was he that helped coax her out of the terror of the change, and helped her embrace what it was.
He promised her she could control it if she tried.
It wasn't easy. And it wasn't done in a day. But, she worked hard little by little. With Wes' support she learned to shut down her senses to a more normal level and she learned how to call them back when she needed them. It took months before she had enough control to really be functional but until then she struggled. Returning to class and working hard to assimilate again like normal took some time but it was worth it.
Once she graduated, Remy took to the beat. She and her partner Zachary were paired up and quickly became friends. It was he that gave her the nickname Remy because of her last name. After several years a huge drug bust took their careers by storm, rocketing them both up into the upper realms of the police force. Remy became a Detective that specialized in forensics.
Remy now works at the Starling City Police Force, and works as well with the Crime Division that has been given over to the crimes that are not strictly human related. Because of her abilities she is a great deal of help in these situations. The Veil truly didn't effect Amelia in any way.. she had been effected before the Veil had fallen. No one is certain exactly how it happened but perhaps it was a sign of things to come. A sign that everyone missed and over looked that suddenly made sense later.
Bad Experiences: Finding herself oversensitive to the world.
Best Memory: Wes and Amelia spent an entire summer building a fort that still stands to this day.
Misc: Owns and adores a black Mini-Yorkie named Puddles. He is the current light of her life and she takes him everywhere when she can. Especially on days off.
Abilities: Synesthete
: Or the ability to enhance the senses. Making them extremely delicate and hypersensitive. This covers, sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste. All the time, her senses are heightened more than the average human. At least two times the average human. Meaning that walking past a dumpster may turn the stomach of a normal person, but Remy might actually puke at the scent if it’s strong enough.
However, she is able to gather a great deal of information this way. By changing through her senses she can drop the others to nearly incapacitated state and just focus on the one sense. Allowing it to be the predominant sense. However, this leaves her extremely vulnerable. Because, the body is used to processing all five senses at once. Not to mention, depending on the ones that are being dampened it may very well hide the fact of an impending attack.
This ability is mostly passive, meaning that it is active all the time. However, she can change her focus in one direction for as long as need be, but is weakened in the other areas until she rebalances her senses.
Skills:
Firearms: Having been on the force since she was twenty three years old. She knows a fair amount about guns. Her father took her shooting as a child at a neighborhood shooting range so that she could protect herself when she got older in a world that was unpredictable. She is not a 100% bulls eye kind of shooter, but her grouping is very tight and gets the job done. She knows how to dismantle and clean not to mention put together a gun.
Forensics: The ability to help solve crimes by seeing and gathering information left at a crime scene. Because of her unique abilities, this is something she is highly valued for.
Brown Belt in Karate: Starting when she was in high school she attends a class once a week to continue her skill but has as of yet not taken the test to become a black belt. Mostly because it isn’t about being able to say such a thing, but instead, about protecting herself when a gun won’t help.
Languages: English, French, Spanish
Secret Hobby: Sewing. Between making clothing, quilts, curtains, and anything else that requires a creative mind and a sewing machine.
