Trenton Malone

420  ~  Male ~ Vampire ~ Faction (if any)~ Ian Somerhalder

Born:Tiarnan Maol Eoin
Alias: Trenton Malone
Profession: Independently wealthy / Mercenary
Height: 6’2”
Hair / Eyes: Black / Azure

Personality:
With a blink of the eye an entire decade can pass by. And that has brought along some complications to Mal. While he tries his hardest to blend it to the current decade he just can’t get a hang of it. Slang outright confuses him (it must change every day, how can anyone even keep up with it all?) and if it wasn’t for Mercy he would still be wearing cravats.

Having fought in more wars than most people even see in a lifetime Tent doesn’t have a very high opinion of people. They’re not very bright and take offence at the smallest thing.

Trent has always been one to search out excitement. Sitting around doing nothing has never appealed to him, and he not afraid to create some excitement of his own if he needs something to do. True, it’s times like that when he finds himself creating some kind of trouble, but it better than being bored out of his mind right?  Some people might be content to stay in and read a book but he’d much rather be out dancing, seeing the sights, and eating meeting new people.

Curiosity may have killed the cat but it kept the vampire entertained. He makes his living by getting involved in other people business and people are curious beings. They’re all driven by the same things; love, jealousy, and greed. Some people suffer heartbreak in silence and others wage wars. Trent like to learn what drives a person, and there is nothing wrong with a bit of gossip either. Not that he’ll ever admit that.

Skills / Talents:
Skilled combatant -  Trained and Ordained as a Soldier of the Holy Roman Empire  plus several centuries of working as a mercenary has allowed Trent  to hone his fighting skills. He has learned a multitude of martial arts styles over the years.
Lie Detector - It’s difficult to tell a lie around Trent. Something about the eyes give it away.

Abilities / Powers:
Pre-Cog  - While Trent doesn’t get elaborate visions of the future (thank goodness) but he gets more of a vague feeling of what’s to come. A bad feeling could indicated trouble to come or a good feeling could indicate a lucky break. The gift was one that his sire passed down.
Levitation - He can get as high as 10 feet in the air (roughly one story high), and about 40 feet out (the length of a school bus). Continual levitation can be held for roughly 30 minutes at max.

He also has the usual vampire abilities; enhanced speed, strength, and healing. While all of his senses might be enchanted as well his sense of sight is the dominate of the group.

Brief History:  Left in the care of the Roman Catholic Church as a wee babe he was quickly christainted Tiarnan Maol Eoin, or Chief of St. John. The Abbott who had christened him though names helped to craft the personality of the child. Tiarnan to bring great leadership skills and Maol Eoin to implore the Saint to give his blessing to the child. Having started off as a simple scribe when Abbott joined the church St. John held a special place in his heart.  By the age of 10 it became very apparent that Tiarnan had no skill in scribal work, nor really any other skill they'd attempted to impart on him.

By the time he was 11 the Abbot decided to apprentice the young hellion to the Soldiers of the Holy Roman Empire. Thus began a life on the road. It wasn’t an easy life by any means but there were certainly some perks. And he found something he was good at. Fighting. It wasn’t what the Abbott wanted for Tiarnan but it was definitely more interesting than any scribal work.

The army was not a place for a young boy. Grown men left to fight in a variety of the Empire's wars and didn’t come back, how could a kid survive that. But he did. Sort of anyways. Right up until he was 24. The Ottoman Empire had declared war on the Habsburgs - something the Pope fully supported and provided men for.

Tiarna been leading a raiding party when he had been captured by the enemy.  For days they tortured him. For exactly how long he wasn’t sure. The days went by in a plain filled haze each one blending into the other. Then one day he woke with an all consuming hunger and more strength than he’d ever had in his life. What happened next he couldn’t exactly say. All Tiarnan can remember from that time in his life is raw, consuming hunger.

Then one day the hunger just ended and Tiarnan became aware of the world again. But one thing was acutely apparent. He was no longer the man he had been. Hell, he wasn’t sure he was even a man any more. Tiarnan certainly didn’t remember the driving need to drink blood before. Unless you counted communion. The first few years of this new existence were rough. Not entirely sure what he was Tiarnan had to learn entirely by trial and error.

Once he'd gotten some control over his new senses and abilities (or at least when he thought he had) Tiarnan tried to re-join his brothers in their fight. Only he ran into a few problems. One of the largest ones was the fact he could no longer stomach being in sunlight. It didn't take a whole lot for his brothers to learn what he'd become - a monster. It wasn't long then until they'd had him excommunicated. A fate worse than death for a devote Catholic like him. Nowhere to go, Tiarana began to wonder around the world picking up the odd job here and there in order to keep himself a float. And after some time he managed to make a name for himself.

Mercenary they called him.

That was certainly true enough. At first he'd take any job if the price was right. Over the years he's been able to become more choosey about what jobs he takes on. That's what happens when you get known for getting the job done with minimal loss (if that's wanted anyways). Now days he prefers jobs that pique his interest or provide a challenge. Gotta keep life interesting after all.

About a century and a half later Mal was delivering a package to a guy he knew in Romania. That is if you can call a head in a burlap sack a package. The delivery of the package went much easier than the acquisition, and ahead of schedule as well. Money in pocket, Mal decided he would take a small tour of the country, see the sights, maybe find a job or two. He spent no more than a night in each town before moving on. At least that was the plan. After coming across a fine pair of eyes and a sweet smile, Mal found himself staying night after night. He was positively smitten.

However, theirs was not to be a happy ending. It didn’t take long before his past caught up with him. A few years earlier one of the John V the King of Portugal’s lackeys had caught wind of a witch named Zaul trying to stir things up in one of Portugal’s biggest colonies Brazil. Afraid there was going to be an uprising he opted to send Mal down to Brazil to set the fear of god into Zaul’s heart. The only request for his contact in Portugal was that he couldn't kill the witch. Dead men became martyrs and that was just asking for unnecessary trouble. Instead Mal decided he would break the man tormenting him over a series of weeks and slowly killing off his entire family. It had worked. Any talk of an uprising ended and Mal moved on content that he had a job well done.

He’d never expected Zaul to hunt him down. Particularly not while he was on a completely different continent. And yet there he was. Intending to make Mal suffer as much as he had Zaul created a potion that would curse the lovey Mercy whom Mal had fallen head over heals for. And curse her it did. Whatever potion Zaul had forced Mercy to drink had changed her in a multitude of ways. Instead of the charming fox-woman she had been she now had the blood lust of a vampire. He had never wished for her to ever experience like that but he couldn’t say he was upset that they would now be able to spend the rest of eternity together.

After the whole ordeal Mercy, deciding to remain in her fox form for a while, disappeared. Worried but understanding that she had somethings to work out and would find him when she was ready, Mal waited. And waited. And waited. Then one day she made her way back to him, and Mal has kept her close to her side ever sense.

Any Other Useful Knowledge: Mal has long since stopped using the name Tiarnan. It’s an old Gaelic name that hardly anyone can pronounce. Plus he already has a hard time not standing out, using a name like Tiarnan Maol Eoin definitely dates him. He’s since fully anglicized his name to Trenton Malone. Or Mal for short.

The horizon was starting to be tinted with reds, oranges, and yellows as the sun was starting to show it’s face. Dawn was quickly approaching. The picture it painted was quite lovely. Perched on top of the six foot wall surrounding one of the many brownstones in the neighborhood Mal leaned against the turret holding a small lamp, one leg dangling off the wall. Any moment now his prey would be walking past the wall and then he’d make his move. All he had to do was wait. Now Mal didn’t have an exact time frame for when his quarry would be passing by but with a little bit of patience on his part his task would prove to be fruitful.

However, if he was being honest, he might be moved to admit he’d already spent quite a large portion of time perched on that wall waiting. He waited there, perched with an inhuman stillness. Once in a while the sound of footsteps would signal someone’s approach. Only it was never the one he was looking for.

People could be so blind. Here he was, a predator in his own rights, and not a single one of the poor bastards walking by would even bother to glance up. Nope they just kept walking right on by. Mal did contemplate jumping down from his hiding place to scare a few of the buggers but that wouldn’t do. He might give the game away. And then all of his planning would be naught.

All had been quiet for a while before a familiar set of footsteps caught his attention. It was time. Grinning from ear to ear he prepared to pounce. Someone came into view. Ah there she was. Completely silent he moved into position. Crouched low on the wall he tracked her every step waiting until she’d just passed him before he spung. Mal jumped to the ground just behind the woman. “Hello Mo Shioghra,” he said huskily. Then with a motion to fast for mortal eyes to follow he pulled the woman into a crushing embrace burying his face into her neck and inhaling the unique scent of her. “Gods how I missed you.”

They’d been separated only for a few weeks but that time had felt like years. It would be a while before he accepted another position that was going to separate them for an indefinite amount of time. But the job had been to good to pass up and it never hurt to have a little more cash for a rainy day. “Did you behave yourself while I was away my sweet Mercy?”

Hello my dear! Welcome to VF!

Just a couple of small things, If you could flesh out his personality just a bit more I'd appreciate it. Also, if you could add in his Vampire abilities to his other Abilities I would appreciate it.

His precog could easily be a vampire trait passed down from his sire but if you could state whether or not he got it after being turned or if it was an ability he had before I would appreciate it.

Here at VF, the lore for Vampires doesn't include Flight, it does however include Levitation and at his age I would expect a bit more control over the ability that same may call it flight. If you could add in how far he can fly and for how long I'd appreciate it!

We can't wait to get you started!

Congratulations!

Welcome to Starling City! Please be sure to Claim your Face. You should also copy and paste the link to your application into your profile so if someone wants to stalk you they can. Don't forget to PM Lilli any descriptions of your house and/or business so she can make sure the boards get made. Pictures are helpful! She will also need a little blurb about your character for the Directory and an icon to go with it, 100x100. If you're having trouble finding one you should check Hollow Art. Feel free to put up any Wanteds. Stop by the Cbox and say hi if you haven't already and jump into the fun!
